What a military technical advisor actually does on set

Authenticity is not a costume. It is a hundred small decisions made before the camera rolls.

Audiences who have served can spot a bad weapons carry in a single frame. Everyone else feels it, even if they cannot name it. The job of a technical advisor is to close that gap.

Before the shoot

The work starts in the script. Rank, radio language, unit structure and rules of engagement all need to hold up. Fix it on the page and you save a day on set. Read about script authenticity review and Hollywood military technical advisors.

Actor training

A short, hard boot camp changes how actors stand, move and look at each other. Cohesion reads on camera. You cannot fake it in wardrobe.

On the day

On set the advisor is a second pair of eyes for the director, watching muzzle discipline, movement and the details that keep veterans in their seats.
